    US Marshal Riot Helmet Civil Rights Era Ole Miss Integration James Meredith
    This item is from the estate of a former Deputy US Marshal who was a Marshal from 1960-1980 when he retired. This helmet came directly from the son of the Marshal. The Marshal was wearing this helmet when he was injured in the Ole Miss Riot while defending the Lyceum and the people in it from a huge mob of protesters.
    The helmet weighs a little over 3 lbs.
    The measurement are approximately 11" from front to back and 9" side to side. It's hard to measure the height but it seems to be 5-6" high.
    There are scratches and marks all over the white part of the helmet as indicated in the photos. Inside of the helmet are canvas green straps and leather straps which all seem to be in excellent condition - again, see photos for condition. The lettering on the front is in excellent condition.
