1827 Bust Half Dollar NGC AU53 O-117a R.4! #BEA8

1827 Capped Bust Half Dollar
A tough Overton die state here.  This coin can be attributed by the very thin joint of two where it meets the base, as well as the recut 5 in the '50C'.  It also has the characteristic die crack at the top of STATE, giving it the 'a' designation.  Barely missing the condition census, which is rounded out by an AU55 example, this piece is attractive in hand.  The camera did not capture the colors as well as we hoped.  The obverse is a dark gray with plenty of luster, and the reverse is lighter with hints of purple and gold.  A really attractive piece and very hard to find.  A specialty item for the Bust Half enthusiast.
