1814 O.108a E/A Capped Bust half dollar, ANACS VF25.
Note that this is Die State 108.3, as described by the very informative, new BHNC publication, "Die State Progressions of the Capped Bust Half Dollar Die Varieties 1807-1836" (which is available from us exclusively, either here on ebay or on our website).
What a lovely, original example.  There is inherent striking weakness with this variety, seen primarily at the centers - though the eagle does have a head on this coin, that isn't always the case.  But this variety can come much later, where the dies have been clashed and cracked and lapped so many times, that the fields can get rough and somewhat unattractive.  Here, the die state is fairly early, and though there are clashes and cracks, the surfaces are still smooth and the coin is really pleasing.
