NGC XF40
With extensive remaining luster, just a dusting of minimal wear, crisp rims, and a commanding, almost jaw-dropping appearance, this piece has many of the qualities of an AU grade. It is unfathomable to me why this is not at least XF45. Crisply struck, with hard, shimmering luster in the open fields, as well as a fair amount of cartwheel. The true "tell" is eagle's left-facing wing, which is virtually unworn, with just a dusting of rub at the upper edge. Beautiful golden hues, with a trace of iridescent rim color. We note a couple tiny pin scratches intersecting above the neck for accuracy, but they are not prevalent, and the strike and luster really drown them out nicely in person. Very strong remnants of the underlying 1 are clearly visible. That summarizes this piece up nicely: "very strong."
